Kyle O’Reilly’s Saints got their GMCL20 campaign off to a winning start at a sunny Sycamore Park on Friday night.
Having won the toss & batted, the home team racked up an impressive 218 for 7 from their 20 overs, Danny Moss (73), Ryan Waterhouse (66) & Mark Dillnut (45) leading the way.
The Black Knights’ reply started gamely enough, but the dismissal of Aussie Lachlan Watts for 45 at the end of the 12th over was to prove crucial. Wickets fell steadily thereafter, and the visitors’ innings ended on 141, giving us victory by 77 runs. Captain Kyle returned 3/21, Dan Moriarty weighing in with 2/14.
