After Friday night‘s T20 opener (at home to Whalley Rangers, 6pm), Saturday sees the 1st and 2nd XI’s looking to maintain their unbeaten starts to the season.
The 1st XI welcome Prestwich CC to Sycamore Park for a 1pm start. It’s 2nd v 3rd in the League – the usually free-scoring visitors have yet to be really stretched in 2019, successful run-chases in the League against Royton and Woodhouses required scores of under 150, and the Derek Kay Cup tie at Bury last Sunday was won with considerably less than that. If Adam Hawley’s team are batting first, let us hope that the target they set is significantly stiffer – it will surely need to be!

Also on Saturday, Danny Hall’s 2nd XI head to Heywood CC (Crimble, Woodfield Terrace, OL10 4JE) for a 1.30pm start. In contrast to our 2 wins thus far, the hosts have suffered defeats to Oldham and Saddleworth, and have found runs hard to come by. Some will know that it’s a big ground, and Danny’s boys may need their running boots – boundaries are at a premium up there!
On to Sunday, and there’s more action at HQ, as the 3rd XI welcome Woodhouses CC at 2pm. The visitors were last in M34-land just a fortnight ago – a repeat of their defeat at Denton CC is what Kian Clough’s team will be trying to inflict, as both teams look to double their tally of wins this season.
