A soggy Saturday saw both the 1st XI and 2nd XI fixtures abandoned in the early afternoon without so much as a ball being bowled, meaning that we will head into May still waiting to see our South African professional, Neil Hornbuckle, in action.
Conditions improved sufficiently to allow a predominantly youthful 3rd XI to take to the field at Ashton on Sunday, but they may have wished the rain had returned as the more experienced hosts recorded a comfortable win having batted first. Ryan Hall returned figures of 2-20 from 5 overs, and Jack Losty, Zak Gregory & skipper Kian Clough took a wicket apiece. Lewis Wilson top scored with 21 in our reply. There are better days ahead for the (mainly) youngsters, you can be sure of that!
