Adam Hawley’s men welcome Royton CC to Sycamore Park for a 1pm start. Last season’s Division 1A runners-up have faced similar opposition to ourselves in the form of Greenfield, Prestwich, Roe Green & Monton to date. Unfortunately for them, whereas we took 3 wins and an abandonment from those games to add to our win at Flixton on the opening day, the visitors recorded 3 defeats and an abandonment, to which last week’s defeat at Woodhouses can be added. So, after our top-of-the-table match at Roe Green last weekend, it’s top versus bottom on Saturday, but there can be no room for complacency as The Paddock outfit will be looking to kick-start their 2019 campaign.
The 1st XI matchball is kindly sponsored K & D FREEMAN – thanks for your support!
Also on Saturday, Danny Hall’s 2nd XI head pretty much in the opposite direction, when they travel to Werneth CC (Chamber Road, Oldham OL8 1AA) for a 1.30pm start. The hosts head into the game on the back of 2 defeats, most recently at early pace-setters Saddleworth. Having won 2 of their first 3 games and, like everyone else, been washed out on Matchday 2, they sit in mid-table on 12 points – 5 behind ourselves, so the importance of a 5 (or 6, with a bonus) point win is obvious to both sides.
On to Sunday, and there’s a tasty-looking derby in prospect, as the third-placed 3rd XI make the short trip to Denton West CC (Windsor Park, off Windsor Road M34 2HB) at 2pm. West’s third-string top the Sunday Division A table with 4 straight wins to date – the first 3 of which were by convincing margins, before a rather tighter affair in the “other” Denton derby last time out. Let us hope we can put a dent in the hosts’ 100% record on Sunday afternoon!
Good luck to all our teams this weekend – as always, home or away, the lads would love to have your support!
