Weekend Preview – 28th/29th April

News/events

The weekend action at Sycamore Park takes place on Saturday, where the 1st XI welcome Greenmount (12.30pm start). The visitors, like Adam Hawley’s team, started the season with a successful run-chase away from home last Saturday, winning by 8 wickets at Edgworth. Let’s hope it is ourselves who still have a 100% record in tact come Saturday night.

The match ball is kindly sponsored by our Club President, Alf Walton.

For those of you who like an away-day (or 2), Archie Moore’s 2nd XI are the team to follow this weekend. On Saturday, they travel to Glodwick (Warren Lane, Oldham OL8 2JE) for a League match with a 1pm start. The boys will look to kick-start their season after last week’s disappointment, whilst the hosts will be aiming for a second successive home win, having beaten Dukinfield by 61 runs on a track where 20 wickets fell for 165 runs. That sounds like…er…fun!

Then, on Sunday, Archie’s Army begin their Per-Fit 2nd XI Cup campaign with a trip to Swinton Moorside (1 Deansway, Swinton M27 0WH). Note the 12.30pm start time for this 50 overs per side contest, where a place in the last 32 is at stake. The hosts ply their trade in Division 3 (West) of the League structure.

The 3rd XI have no game this weekend.

All of the above is, of course, subject to these pesky April showers staying away – Twitter users can follow the progress (or lack of it) of all the matches via our usual match-day tweeting service (@dslcc1).

Come & give the lads your support!
