WEEKEND PREVIEW – 19TH / 20TH MAY

News/events

After Friday night’s GMCL20 fun at home to Ashton Black Knights (6pm), both the 1st & 2nd XI face a busy weekend in League & Cup.

Saturday sees (yet) another Denton Derby – it being the turn of Adam Hawley’s 1st XI to make the short trip to Denton West (Windsor Road, M34 2HB) at 1pm. Our near-neighbours have yet to pick up a point this season, and are already in danger of being cut adrift as the league table begins to take shape.

Back at Sycamore Park, Archie Moore’s 2nd XI will look to continue their impressive recent form when Flowery Field visit at 1.30pm. Whilst we were ending Wests 2nd XI 100% start to the season in stunning style last Saturday, Flowery were surrendering their own perfect start at home to Glodwick.

Sunday sees both 1st & 2nd XI’s in Cup action, while the 3rd XI have the weekend off. It’s a home fixture in the Lancashire Cricket Foundation KO Cup for the 1st XI, with Euxton, of the Ribblesdale League, the visitors to Headquarters. This is a 45 overs per side contest with a 1pm start. The prize for the winners is another home tie in the last 32, against either Fulwood & Broughton or Whalley on Sunday June 10th.

The 2nd XI travel to Edgworth CC (Bolton Road, Bolton BL7 0AP) for their Per-Fit Windows 2nd XI Cup tie, which is 50 overs per side, starting at 1pm. This is the last 32 of the competition, both teams having reached this stage with successful run-chases away from home in Round 1. Let us hope that Archie’s Army can maintain the pattern of away wins on Sunday afternoon.

Good luck to both our teams on both days this weekend!
