The second half of the weekend sees both the 1st & 2nd XI’s in action again, this time in Cup competitions.

A trip to Bradshaw CC (Rigby Lane, off Bolton Road BL2 3EU) is the 1st XI’s assignment in the last 32 of the Lancashire Cricket Foundation KO Cup. This 45 overs per side contest starts at 1pm. Bradshaw play in the Bolton League, where the season is just 3 games old. Whilst they have yet to register a win in that competition this season – having, to be fair, played a couple of the early pace-setters – they will be keen to repeat the home success of the previous round, when they eased past Padiham CC while we were beating Vernon Carus. A home tie against Walsden or Chorley in 3 weeks’ time is the prize for Sunday’s winners.

For those not wishing to venture North, the weekend of the Epsom Derby sees Danny Hall’s 2nd XI have a Derby of their own on Sunday, as Denton CC visit Sycamore Park in the 1st round of the Per-Fit Windows 2nd XI Premier Cup. Note the 1pm start time for this contest, which is also 45 overs per side. This is the first Cup tie of the season for both teams, so there is no “previous cup form” to speak of, but our near-neighbours’ League form to date is the exact opposite of ours, with 1 win and 4 defeats prior to this weekend. The winners of the tie will be in the last 16 on June 16th.

Good luck to both our teams on Sunday – as ever, home or away, the lads would love to have your support!
